Michelle Razo recently taught two advanced Hand Therapy courses at Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, focusing on TFCC rehabilitation and interpreting X-rays. The sessions emphasised evidence-based assessment, treatment strategies to avoid surgery and systematic X-ray analysis. Attendees included a highly qualified, diverse group of Occupational Therapists, many of whom were Certified Hand Therapists (CHT’s), fostering rich discussion and collaborative learning.

Instructing Two Hand Therapy Courses

I had the privilege of teaching two advanced Hand Therapy sessions at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Doha, Qatar. The subjects covered included First Contact Rehabilitation of the Triangular Fibrocartilaginous Complex (TFCC) and Interpreting X-rays in Hand Therapy.

Advanced Learning Outcomes

The courses covered the use of evidence-based assessments and tests to clinically diagnosing TFCC pathology, as well as treatment protocols designed to avoid surgery. The comprehensive X-ray workshop enabled hand therapists to systematically analyse X-rays.

Qualified Hand Therapy Group

One of the most rewarding aspects of the training day was the calibre of the attendees. The group included a diverse range of Occupational Therapists from different backgrounds and specialties. Among them were many Certified Hand Therapists (CHT’s). The largest group in one unit I have encountered outside of the United States of America. Their expertise and contributions enriched discussions, transforming the course into a collaborative exchange of ideas and best practice.
